McClellan overly cautious, and drives Lincoln crazy!
Why?
In the battle of Antietam he could have taken Richmond in March 1862 but delayed for nearly a month, which allowed the Confederate troops to reinforce themselves, and ended up having to retreat in May 1862
Robert E. Lee, of the South, then used his advantage to invade the North hoping to gain support from Europe.
McClellan discovered Lee’s battle plan and used it to win at Antietam, but again does not pursue Lee! Lincoln again not very happy!!! Seen as a draw, but North claims victory.
