2. Trust Your Ear!!! Example:
Bob doesn’t know the value of the house he lives in.
Bob don’t know the value of the house he lives in.
The first one sounds better, right? You don’t need to know the exact grammatical rule, just what sounds right.
You can spot questions that test grammar rules because the answers are roughly the same length.
Read the sentences carefully, looking and listening for clues to the error.

3. Grammar Rules to Know Number Agreement:
“If a student won’t study, they won’t do well.”
2. Pronouns in Compounds
“The fool gave the wrong tickets to Bob and I.”
3. Commas or Dashes (Parenthetical Phrases)
“Bob – on his way to the store, saw a lizard.”

“Ed’s a slacker, Sara isn’t.”

Forms of the Verb To Be (see page 106) 16. –ing Endings “When I left for the store, I was forgetting my list.” 17. –er and –est, More, and Most “Bob is the fastest of the two runners.” 18. Between or Among “I will walk among the two halves of the class.” “I will walk between the many students in class.”

“I have fewer water than I thought, so I can fill less buckets.”
