2. Some Things We Should NOT Seek After
Romans 10:3 – to establish our own righteousness
Paul was dealing with his Jewish brethren who had rejected Jesus.
Many today think they can establish their own way to God
Many today think they are fine.
They are not!

3. Some Things We Should NOT Seek After
1 Corinthians 1:22 – after the wisdom of men
More interested in the philosophies of men than God
1:23 – a stumbling block
Acts 17:32 – some mocked
Romans 1:20-21

4. Some Things We Should NOT Seek After
Self-gratification
We live in times of selfishness
1 Corinthians 13:5 love does not seek its own
James 3:14-16 – wisdom of this world is self-seeking, and demonic

5. Some Things We Should NOT Seek After
Galatians 1:10 – to please men
We live in times of great compromise and the fear of offending others
While being hateful is never godly, we should not shy away from defending the truth – 1 Peter 3:15

6. Some Things We Should NOT Seek After
Philippians 2:21 – for all seek their own
Far too many are guilty of this.
Are we guilty of this to some degree?

7. We need to seek after God
Psalm 10:4 – the wicked does not seek God
Psalm 14:2 - is there anyone? (Romans 3:10-11)
Matthew 6:32-33 – seek first God’s kingdom and all these things will be added to you Matthew 13:45-46

8. We need to seek after God
Colossians 3:1-2 – the things above
John 5:30 – even Jesus did not seek His own, but the will of the Father Hebrews 5:8-9 John 6:38
Matthew 3:17, 17:5 – God was pleased with Him
Is God pleased with how we seek Him?

9. Some things we ought to seek
Seeking God first will affect everything we do and how we perceive this world
Acts 17:27 – God all around us Romans 1:19-20 – are we looking to see His work in creation?

10. Some things we ought to seek
1 Corinthians 10:24 – the well being of others
While we are to work out our own salvation (Philippians 2:12), we are reminded its not just about me
Romans 14:1, 13, 15, etc.
Proverbs 20:19
Philippians 2:3-4, 4:17
Who did Jesus look out for?

11. Some things we ought to seek
1 Peter 3:11 – peace
Seek peace and pursue it Romans 14:18-19

12. Some things we ought to seek
Proverbs 2:4-5 – wisdom
Proverbs 15:14
James 3:17-18, the wisdom from above

13. Some things we ought to seek
Hebrews 11:6 – the reward He offers
Romans 2:7 – eternal life awaits those who are seeking glory, honor and immortality
Hebrews 13:14
Hebrews 11: Timothy 4:7-8
