2. WHAT IS A WELCOME WEEK REP?
Welcomes first years in the faculty of Engineering (Eng I, BTech, iBioMed, Comp-Sci) to McMaster
A positive role model that mentors first years in their new environment
Helps facilitate events throughout the week and represents their faculty
Not looking for a specific kind of rep. There is no perfect rep
Week long commitment, the whole role is to Welcome first years, ultimately put first years first throughout the week
Also represent your faculty, and will interact with other faculties on campus

3. WELCOME WEEK ROLES
Help out and facilitate faculty events (Faculty Day, Fest, and Night)
Help with Move In
Interact with and help first years throughout the week
Maintain connections throughout the year

4. IMPORTANT DATES
Training: two all-day sessions
April 6th
August 17th or 22nd or 23rd
Welcome Week
August 24th - 31st
Various team events throughout the summer

5. HOW TO APPLY TRYOUT WEEKEND: PART 1: Application
DUE: February 3rd at 11:58pm
Submit online and a hard copy during your tryout
Will be posted to the MES website after January 15th
PART 2: Creative
Done in groups of 4-6
5min component
Must be appropriate
Sign up in the Junction in second floor of Hatch
PART 3: Interview
Quick and individual
Character and situational based questions
TRYOUT WEEKEND:
February 8th - 10th
Application: key part, serious and funny questions to get to know you,
Creative: 5min max, anything you want, can’t be posted, maria and ken, sign up

6. SELECTIONS PROCESS: TIPS & TRICKS
Each applicant is evaluated individually on all aspects of the application
Passion: why do you want to be a rep?
Relevant Experience: what makes you different?
We are not looking for any specifics, most importantly just be yourself!!

7. MEET THE ORIENTATION COMMITTEE
Responsible for planning Welcome Week events and selection of our rep team!
