2 CBP Washington Update American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Program Status In 2009, Congress appropriated $420M in ARRA funds to modernize CBP-owned land port facilities and support economic recovery efforts. CBP’s initial plans included 23 Design/Build projects to replace existing facilities Repairs and alterations projects Integrated program management reporting system Due to competitive procurements and innovative design prototype, CBP experienced more than $70 million in cost savings and will be able to fully modernize up to eight more ports Now fully modernizing up to 31 ports $21M of the $70M reprogrammed to other shovel-ready projects 2

3 CBP Washington Update LPOE Investment Strategy In 2007, CBP identified a $6 billion need to recapitalize the land port of entry (LPOE) portfolio over 10 years Received over $1B in the last four years Appropriations trends not keeping pace CBP and GSA evaluating the investment strategy and prioritizing based on the following factors: LPOE condition source data Regional coordination efforts Execution feasibility studies 3 3
