Let us go to the World of PLANTS their S.K.Arora and
3
TARGET STUDENTS 11 to 14 Years Class VII th to IX th S.K.A.
4
We have about 25000 Different Species of Plants S.K.A. For Example
5
Big TreesSmall Bryophytes Intertidal Plants Plants of Tea family Centuary Plant Cycade Tree
6
Why to classify PLANTS S.K.A. ?
7
To make studies EASIER To switch directly to the DESIRED Group of plants To ESTABLTSH relationship Among different groups of Plants
8
PLANTS Such as s.k.a.
9
1.On the basis of HEIGHT.HEIGHT 2.On the basis of LIFE TIME.LIFE TIME 3.On the basis of LEAF SHEDING.LEAF SHEDING 4.On the basis of PHYLOGENIC- RELATIONSHIPSPHYLOGENIC- RELATIONSHIPS 8
10
1.HERBS:-- They have short and perishable stem.HERBS For example: wheat, gram, pea, sun flower carrot, radish etc. Go back
11
Shrubs:-- They are small woody plants of nearly equal height Their height varies from 1 fit to 4 fit. Examples:China rose,Oleander etc.
12
Trees:-- They are big, sometime huge woody plants They have a simple main stem, which grows for some distance above the grounds. Ex. Neem, Mango etc.
13
ON THE BASIS OF LIFE TIME 1.Annuals 2.Biennials 3.Perennials 12 GO BACK
14
ANNUALS These plants live and complete their life- cycle just in one season. Ex.Wheat,Gram,Bean,Pea etc.
15
Biennials:-- These plants live for two seasons. In the first season they grow leaves and produce flowers in the next season. Ex.Beet root;Carrot, Radish(in temperate regions)
16
Perennials:-- These plants live for more then two years. They produce flowers and seeds every year. Ex. Rose, Mango. Pine etc.
17
This relationship is based on Evolutionary links 17
18
Whether they produce seeds or not Whether the seeds are contained in fruits or are exposed. 18
19
On this basis, all plants are grouped into two Phyla(Phylum) :-- CRYPTOGAMES They do not produce flowers. PHANEROGAMES They produce flowers. Go to 21
20
1.DECIDUOUS Plants:-- These plants shed their leaves once a year.Ex.Mulberry,Oak etc. 2.EVERGREEN Plants :-- These plants never shed their leaves at one time but keep on shedding some leaves all through the year.Ex.Pine,Guava etc Go back 19
