DHS PROM DRESS CODE Why do we have a dress code? DHS staff and administration wants you to make good choices. We are not trying to inhibit your style. Prom should be fun, but we want everyone to be comfortable and safe.

With modesty in mind, the following Young Ladies Dress Code guidelines will be enforced at the 2019 Dothan High School Prom. First, we will show examples of girls’ prom dresses:

Notice how the bodice of the dress extends as far as the underside of the arm. The entire bust area is covered.

#1 Dresses may not be cut below the bust line. The bust continues around your sides directly under the armpit. With arms down at your side, if flesh touches flesh below the bust line, the dress is inappropriate. This dress meets dress code. BUST LINE BUST LINE (on the side)

Hemlines Unacceptable
Appropriate dress length will be at the midpoint between the knee and fingertip Unacceptable Hemline is higher than the midpoint between knee and fingertip length. Notice bodice doesn’t meet dress code either!

For our young men, the key point to keep in mind when deciding what to wear is that Prom is a very special “formal” occasion. Casual clothing is not appropriate. Jackets are encouraged Button up shirts are required Long slacks are required Dress jeans allowed Shoes are required
