1 put your phone up and listen to Mrs. Matney
Algebra Miss a day? 5 The 5 P’s Mrs. Matney It is important to be in class everyday, as it is so easy to fall behind. So, please come as much as possible. If you do miss, it is your responsibility to get your notes and assignments from the website, or myself. You have 5 days to make up a test or quiz. If you miss a homework assignment, it is due by Friday for the Homework Quiz. Grading Policy We will use a point system. The weight of each assignment is based on the type of assignment. For example, tests are the highest in point value. Since this is a high school course, test will be counted three times. Quizzes, warm ups, and daily work will count one time. Students do not have to make up daily assignments or homework quizzes if they are absent. However, if a student continues to miss assignments, then the student will be required to make them up. The missing grades will be omitted, therefore it is not hurting the student nor is it helping. A student may choose to make up the assignment if they wish, however it will count no matter the grade. Assignments will need to be made up within a week. Productive Prepared Prompt Polite Patient Binder (at least 1 inch) or 3 portfolio folders Paper and Pencils Colored Pencils or Pens Tissues & Clorox Wipes (optional) Ear Buds (optional) Supply List Stay Informed Need extra help? 93-100 A 85-92 B 75-84 C 70-74 D 0-69 F I will be available every Tuesday and Wednesday for tutoring until 4pm, any additional day is by appointment. Students can ride the evening bus. However, I am not responsible for students once they sign out of tutoring. Arrangements with parents is the student’s responsibility. Homework Policy Homework is practice, thus I do not grade homework for accuracy but rather for completion. Completion is not having random answers with no work shown. Students will receive two grades for homework; one for daily completion and one for the weekly homework quiz. Quizzes are on Friday; students are encouraged to use their homework to do this quiz. Calculators are not permitted on this quiz; this is also the only type of quiz that I do put a time constraint on since they have all the answers. This is a high school course, so it is extremely important that students complete their homework, stay organized, and correct their homework. If completing homework becomes an issue, then I will assign ASD to finish the homework with me. Additional offenses will result in parent conference. Hey I just met you And this is CRAZY, but put your phone up and listen to Mrs. Matney

Bad Grade? Register to receive text messages and/or messages with reminders, homework assignments, and other class information. Instructions for sign up is attached. The new grade will be grade recorded. 1st Nine Weeks Expressions Solving Equations Relations and Functions Graphing Linear Equations 2nd Nine Weeks Equations of Lines System of Equations Inequalities R-E-S-P-E-C-T find out what it means to me Be respectful at all times. The use of profanity is prohibited and will not be tolerated. Eating and drinking are prohibited in the classroom with the exception of water. Unless medically necessary. Students are expected to come to class on time, be prepared to work, be attentive, and actively involved in learning. Students are expected to complete all assignments given. 3rd Nine Weeks Exponents Polynomials Factoring 4th Nine Weeks Roots and Quadratic Functions Statistics and Data Analysis SOL Review Bathroom, Locker, Hall Each student is permitted nine passes each grading period. This includes: bathroom, locker, and water fountain. In the event that a student uses more than nine passes, then I will request a conference with parent to figure out a plan for the student. It is crucial to have students in the classroom as much as possible. Cheating I have a zero tolerance for cheating. Just don’t do it. If an item appears questionable, then every student involved will be questioned. Depending on the assignment, students may be required to complete an alternative assignment. If the assignment is a test, the student will be subject to a zero. I advise that students keep their papers covered at all times. Parents will be contacted in any event of dishonesty on an assignment. Unacceptable Behavior: Unacceptable behavior will be documented and will result in the following disciplinary actions: 1) Verbal Warning, 2) Teacher/Student Conference, 3) Quiet Lunch or ASD, 4) Parent/Guardian Contact, 5) Administration Textbook The textbook is online and can be found on my webpage. Please let me know if a hard copy is needed. TEXTBOOK Algebra 1 Holt McDougal Larson

3 Homework is practice, thus I do not take a daily grade on homework
Homework is practice, thus I do not take a daily grade on homework. This course is only 60 minutes, so homework is required and will affect the student’s success in the classroom. If a student continues to not complete homework assignments, then I will begin to grade them. Students will earn a weekly homework grade by completing a homework quiz each Friday. Calculators are not permitted on this quiz, and I also set a time limit for this quiz. These restrictions are only because the students are permitted to use their notebook for this quiz, therefore if they did the homework and corrected it then they have all the answers. It is the students responsibility to make up any absent homework assignments before Friday and I will check it.
