Thematic Working Group „Natural Risk Zones“ (TWG NZ)
INSPIRE CT (Consolidation Team) formed Technical Working Group Natural Risk Zones - TWG NZ NZ = Theme code and TWG Code kick-off meeting was held 27/ Ispra by now facilitator is missing two co-editors named (Oktakar Cerba - CZ, Cristiano Giovando - JRC) Only 1-2 „face-to-face-meetings“ per year; communication, exchange through telephone- and web-conferences, also by using folders, tools on CIRCA, JIRA etc. objective: developing „Data specification Natural risk zones“, version 1.0 until end of October 2010 (formerly September 2010) by considering Annex I DS and relationships between NZ and a lot of other Annex II + III themes respectively TWG‘s

Natural risk zones D2.3 Definition of Annex Themes and scope - v3.0
Vulnerable areas characterised according to natural hazards (all atmospheric, hydrologic, seismic, volcanic and wildfire phenomena that, because of their location, severity, and frequency, have the potential to seriously affect society), e.g. floods, landslides and subsidence, avalanches, forest fires, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions. Challenge for TWG NZ: very broad range of hazards Discussion: „what belonges to what“ ? Different point of views! e.g. Tsunami: hydrologic or seismic or both? = comparable with our discussion about „List of Flood types“ Result: there is a need for categories

Links between NZ and other themes
Additional challenge for TWG NZ: very complex relationships with other Annex themes and most of these themes are Annex II and III themes Consequences: the work for defining use cases etc. has to be done parallel to the work of related other Annex II and III TWG‘s there are needs for intensive communication and adjustments with other TWG‘s respectively TWG NZ has to work in close collaboration with many other TWG‘s Especially data modelling will be very complex because other TWG‘s may provide application schema NZ with new classes and/or placeholders

WG F Drafting Group – involvement
1. User requirements survey: 4 forms filled by M. Pfeiffer with adjusted input and submission of endorsed Documents by M. Brättemark 2. Possible support for TWG activities: providing further FD-related documents/backgroundmaterial adjusted feedbacks to draft documents use of INSPIRE forum attendence of INSPIRE-workshops/conferences send questions, remarks, inputs etc. to TWG NZ / M. Pfeiffer but: „additional hazards“ = information overflow, lack of time for sufficient communication

Data Specifications Annex I - TWG HY
Input for TWG NZ = defined Use Cases from TWG HY 1) Use Case: Mapping of physical objects The representation of all main hydrographic elements, both natural and artificial, is needed to provide a map background for orientation and to understand place relationship. One of the main purposes of maps is to inform the public (understandable form, effective communication). An example is the overlaying of flood risk information on a background map as displayed in the following Use Case diagram.

Defined Use Cases identify the need for features Features have often a „cross-thematic“ character The sum of the identified features have to be integrated with their description into Dataspecification respectively Application schema this causes a complex application schema application schema for „Natural risk zones“ is exspected to be at least as complex as application schema for „Hydrography“
