20 Home Port Potential Routes
Puerto Peñasco is not known to cruise tourism. It will be the Home Port and the origin for most of the new Sea of Cortez routes. Currently, cruise ships leaving Long Beach, California travel all the way to Cabo San Lucas without an intermediate destination. The Puerto Peñasco Home Port will allow cruise ships to explore the Sea of Cortez on both shores as well as over 100 Islands. This project has the full support of the Federal, State and Municipal Governments. The cruise ship industry (Carnival and Royal Caribbean) has agreed to use Puerto Peñasco as their Home Port for the Sea of Cortez as soon as it is built. Arizona provides 350,000 passengers per year to the cruise ship industry. With the new coastal highway, Southern California passengers can access the Home Port as well. The opening of the New Sea of Cortez International Airport will support the Home Port with passengers from many locations. The Home Port will be built at the Sandy Beach Resorts Marina
