CO2 Setup for Transatrial Pericardial Insufflation The connection to the carbon dioxide (CO2) tank should be detached before use in a patient; crossed stopcocks allow air to be purged after it is reattached to be refilled. The system is filled and purged at least 3 times before use. The syringe has a 1-way valve that allows it to fill with CO2 from the bag and to eject into a stopcock connected to the transatrial microcatheter. Adam B. Greenbaum et al.
