2 Student Objective #1: Define the following terminology:
Alternatives – choices Benefits – the pros or advantages of a consequence. Consequence – a result Cost – the cons or disadvantages of a consequence. What you give up to have a consequence.

Goals – mean to an end or a specific aim that reflects a set of values Intermediate goals – goals you wish to accomplish in the next few month to a year. Lifecycle – the stage of life. Lifestyle – how we live.

Long term goals – activities or plans that will materialize in one or more years. Needs – necessities Quality of life – the level of satisfaction that people feel in what they do and how they live. Ranking Values – putting the most important value first to the least important value last.

Resources – something that lies read for use or can be drawn upon in an emergency. Short term goals – a goal that is to be achieved with a short period of time up to one month. Trade off – giving up something in order to get something you want more. Wants - Luxuries

6 Student Objective #2: Identify the seven steps in the decision-making process (you will need to memorize these step in order) Define the problem Identify and rank goals Identify the alternatives (An) Analyze the consequences of each alternative Choose the best alternative Put your decision into action Evaluate your decision

Will increase a persons chances of being satisfied with their decision. Provides more freedom and control over one’s life.

Personal Social Health Safety Educational Moral or Ethical Common, everyday

We make decisions based on: Experience Habit Following another’s example Impulse

11 Student Objective #7: Identify limitations when making decisions
People are limited, when making decisions, based on: What a person is capable of doing One’s environment What a person is willing to do
