1 Critical Design Review
Arc-Jet Thruster P17101 Adam February 2, 2017

2 Post DDR Notes/Agenda Operational safety requirements
Complete of electrical design Draft testing plans

3 Overall System Diagram

4 Assorted Updates Loss of team member – David Yin (EE)
Located testing lab – Engine test cell in machine shop Parts are in the shop awaiting fabrication Meeting with EHS on Feb-09 to discuss operational safety

5 PCU Updates Added a 24V power supply for the solenoid and for the DAQ controls Using a single capacitor on the high current side to keep the power consumption down. Removed contactor from circuit.

6 Capacitor Removal Resistors in series put us in 25-30Ω range
Removing the voltage doubler keeps system under 1kW operating power.

7 DAQ Control The DAQ has a limited output current, not enough to activate a relay. Use MOSFETs to turn relays on using the DAQ input.

8 PCU Schematic (Functional)

9 PCU Schematic (Physical)
¾” Plywood base ¾” Plywood walls Components to scale. Max dimensions: 18” x 24” x 7” Components mounted to sheet aluminum as required.

10 Test Stand DAQ Setup Removed T/C to reduce # of AI channels needed to 4

11 Test Stand Test Outline

12 Test Stand Test Setup

13 Test Stand Sensor Selection
Estimated force seen by load cell remains unchanged Chamber pressure estimated in the 20-30psig range: 100psig sensor selected

14 Test Stand Bill of Materials
Removed T/C Updated price of PX309 as per Omega’s website BoM total: $  $422.78 Verified USB-6008 & myDAQ availability w/ Dr. Kempski

15 Test Stand Test Planning
