5 Back to CD-ROM INDEX Coaching Programs for age 10 – 13 years These Coaching Programs have been constructed to allow a coach to follow a sequential plan through a season ( 16 Coaching Programs ). Although these programs are only a guide, they do however have several important features:- 1. Skills and drills are repeated, because you do not want a new skill and drill every week. Try to follow the Coaching Programs from 1 to 16 2. Coaches can easily move individual skills, unit skills and team skills around to suit their individual teams circumstances. 7 Exercise / Drill 15 How Many Passes Objective: To improve players' passing and communication skills. Exercise / Drill set up Exercise / Drill explanation: 1. Four players group together inside a grid, with one player nominated as the interceptor or defender. 2. The interceptor tries to intercept the ball or pressure the other players into making bad passes or dropping the ball. 3. If the ball is dropped or intercepted, the player who made the error and the interceptor change roles and the drill continues. Key coaching points: Accurate and correct passing techniques are needed. Communication between players. Accuracy under pressure is the key to this drill. Attacking players who are not in possession of the ball must run into space. Equipment: 1) A ball for each grid. 2) 4 Marker cones to form the grid. 5m Video Clip CLICK to play to stop to play again Back to PREVIOUS PAGE Jober rugby
