The Third Way: co-opting voluntary sector into government policy delivery, more professionalization, introduced managerialism Austerity and end of legal assistance: LASPO, cuts to all government funding, disenchantment with voluntary sector, rise of pro bono, increased use of IT And forward to what?

Scenario 1: Client’s problems reduce and/or are dealt with earlier on. The advice sector’s capacity and shape are adequate to meet the demand from those people who really need help

Scenario 2: Client’s problems increase and become more complex with fewer solutions to offer. The advice sector’s capacity and shape means it is able to meet the increased demand.
