3. FMLY 4300 - Field Experience
WHAT ARE THE DETAILS OF THE COURSE?
6 credit hours.
120 hours in the field.
Seminars on Tuesdays from 4:00 to 5:15.
Two options:
Both terms option – half day a week at placement site.
First term only option – one full day a week at placement site; this is only for students who are graduating in February 2019.

4. FMLY 4300 - Field Experience
WHAT CAN I EXPECT IN THE COURSE?
Group discussions– a chance to lead and document in- class discussions.
Guest speakers and occasional lectures.
Field notes – self reflection on learning and progress at your placement site.
An on site project in cooperation with the supervisor.
Mid-term and final evaluation by site supervisor.

WHERE WOULD I BE PLACED?
Students are from all options in Family Social Sciences.
Students are matched according to their option and individual interests.
A wide range of sites, including frontline activities, research activities, program delivery, program development and program evaluation.
Check the front page of the application form for a sampling of sites.

IS THIS COURSE FOR ME?
Must have a professional attitude.
Must be able to work independently.
Must commit to placement and seminar attendance
Must have good communication and problem solving skills.
Must consider other time commitments and transportation.
May incur costs.

HOW DO I APPLY?
Attend an orientation meeting April 11, 2019, at 3:30 pm in Room 206 Human Ecology.
Applications (with resume) submitted by April 25, 2019.
Application form is available on the Family Social Sciences website.
You describe your goals for the field experience and indicate a preference of site.
You need two references to be submitted by April 25, 2019.
Hand in your application to the Family Social Sciences Office, Room 309, Human Ecology.
Students visit sites in June (before the course begins).
