In 2010 there was CBD conference was held, and 67 ministers signed up to achieve a zero deforestation net by 2020.
The forest is exploited for their timber, Brazil needed a way to pay off their debt. By the 1980’s, an area the size of England, Scotland and Wales was being removed annually.
91% of the land that was deforested was used for livestock.
The leading cause of deforestation is to make way for cattle.
