Deforestation In 2010 there was CBD conference was held, and 67 ministers signed up to achieve a zero deforestation net by 2020. The forest is exploited for their timber, Brazil needed a way to pay off their debt. By the 1980’s, an area the size of England, Scotland and Wales was being removed annually. 91% of the land that was deforested was used for livestock. The leading cause of deforestation is to make way for cattle.

Food Production Brazil is also the second-largest producer of soybeans on the planet. Brazil is the global leader in the production of sugarcane, harvesting more than 600 million ton of it every year. Agriculture helps contribute to the amount of C02. They burn the trees down so they can plant more soybeans and sugarcane.
