Take 1st left at crossroads, near Green Dragon pub, follow the road round, take the second left, go through the ford at the campsite. Footpath through Campsite, takes about 40 mins over rocky ground to top fieldsite. Access also possible from the Burway at the top in about 20 – 30 mins (see map) Mobile phone coverage: Orange -T-mobile, O2 in the bottom of the valley, ok coverage near the source, weak on hillsides (orange-t-mobile best) Site Description: River valley with small streams running through upland moorland site. Name of Site: Ashes Hollow Grid Reference: SO (site 1) to (Little Stretton) Path to site Possible alternative site using tributary. Possible egress routes Burway; very steep, no access for coaches. Do not use in icy or very wet conditions. Two higher paths, avoiding lower gorge section. Select lower or higher route around gorge section depending on conditions, group size, ability and previous experience. Nearest dwelling Advise students of appropriate behaviour near dwellings and campsite. Remind students of rocky sections and other hazards as appropriate. Path through lower gorge section unsuitable for most groups due to large drop below. Park brook in front of houses Traffic risk when loading/unloading and walking to campsite. Keep group to path when walking through campsite Nearest dwelling Minibus parking by stream
