Bullet Notes The purpose of bullet notes think critically about WHY the author included certain details. Most details are meant to develop a character and/or develop a theme. We will look back through chs and create bullet notes for each chapter.

On your paper, draw 3 columns and label them like the columns below
On your paper, draw 3 columns and label them like the columns below. In the first column, jot down an important event or detail from the chapter. Try to come up with 5 per chapter. Event/Detail WHY the author included Other Opinion The WHY should be a literary function – usually development of character and/or theme. Could also be symbolism (which circles back to theme) Could also be foreshadowing/mood Could also be setting (which circles back to character) Be sure to explain what it reveals about character or theme, don’t just put “character.” Leave the 3rd column blank. We will use this when we rotate and share notes.
