NER is tightly regulated by RPA1 acetylation and deacetylation by PCAF and GCN5 acetyltransferases and HDAC6 and SIRT1 deacetylases, respectively. RPA acetylation enhances XPA1 retention on DNA lesions and promotes NER. For detail, see text and papers by He et al. (2017) and Zhao et al. (2017).
