Replace with quieter equipment
Enclose the equipment
Screen off the equipment
Acoustic buffers
Remove staff from the noisy area
Reduce the time employees are exposed to the noise
Provide PPE

There are two types of injury:
Hand/arm vibration
Whole body vibration

5. Vibration Hand/arm vibration Can be caused by
Operating hand-held power tools
Using hand-guided equipment
Holding materials being processed
Regular and frequent exposure
Vibration white finger
Carpal tunnel syndrome

6. Vibration Whole body vibration
Transmitted to the whole body via feet or seat
Causes injury to lower back and spine
E.g. seat of a vehicle – fork-lift truck, excavator or dumper truck
