3. Information -At first Ford Sought to advance Nixon’s détente.
-July Helsinki Finland- Joined 34 leaders to sign historic records. WWII officially ends by legitimising soviet poland and Russia promises liberal exchanges of people and promises to protect basic human rights.
-This was thought to be a milestone for detente, but in America, it was considered a one way street. American resources and technology was sent abroad with little in return and soviets continue to violate human rights.
-Leads to punitive restrictions on US-Soviet trade Bill and Ford, who clung to détente refuses to say the word after Moscow’s Double dealing.

C- It shows Gerald ford pardoning Nixon though the shadow of watergate pulls him.
P-TO show that Ford wanted to Pardon Nixon for the greater evils of watergate
V- We can see the negative view of watergate indicating that ford’s pardon would hurt his image.
L-We don’t see that Ford was the one who gave the pardon.

C- Shows the Hand of the American people shaking the soviet hand handcuffed to the people.
P-This represents that though the soviets promise to enforce human rights with détente, they continue to violate the rights of the people.
V-We can see how détente was more in theory than practice for Russia.

C- Shows Gerald Ford as the coach of a football team “my guys”
P- Shows how Ford was viewed as a dimwitted college football player and was illegitimate for presidency.
V- With the clothes and terminology we can see the view America had of FOrd
L- We don’t get a feel for why he is viewed this way.

-Both source 1 and source 3 involve Gerald Ford.
-Both source 1 and source 3 are political Cartoons.
-Source 1 suggests that Gerald Ford would be viewed negatively for pardoning Nixon of what they considered terrible. Similarly, Source 3 suggests that Gerald Ford is viewed negatively as a dimwitt college football player.
Contrast
-Source 3 gives general American thoughts about Gerald Ford While Source 1 gives reasoning for why Americans may View Gerald Ford negatively.
-Source 3 is in color while source 1 is in black and white.
-Source 1 involves Nixon while Source 3 does not.
-Source 1 displays Ford almost as flustered while source 3 displays Ford as standing firmly.
