Summer 2016

2. What is the A+ Program?
Students who graduate from a designated A+ School and meet all the requirements, may qualify for state-paid assistance to attend any public community college or technical school in the state of Missouri.

3. What are the requirements?
Attend a designated A+ School for three consecutive years prior to graduation.
GPA= 2.5 or higher (Unweighted)
Have at least 95% attendance record.
Perform 50 hours of unpaid tutoring on Francis Howell School District premises.
Maintain a record of good citizenship and avoid the unlawful use of drugs and alcohol.
Score Proficient or Advanced on Algebra I EOC
Complete the FAFSA form your senior year. (Federal Application for Free Student Aid.)

4. A+ 50 HOUR TUTORING REQUIREMENT
All tutoring assignments must be arranged and approved through Mr. Bailey
All tutoring must be school sponsored and supervised by a school official on district premises.
The student must maintain an hour log sheet for all hours to receive credit.

5. Log Sheets Include length of tutoring for each date worked
Include signature by tutoring supervisor for each date logged.
Complete in permanent ink
Turn in to Mr. Bailey or Mrs. Lipin after completing the 50 hours

6. Each tutoring student should sign in on the sign-in sheet provided at each school. This is important, in case you were to lose your tutoring log sheet.
Should an emergency arise and you can not make your assignment that day, you must notify the teacher or supervisor at your tutoring site.
The 50 hour tutoring requirement must be met by January 1st of your senior year in order to be A+ certified.
All students must complete their hours during the semester assigned or face removal from the A+ program.

7. Responsibilities of Tutor
Work with a positive attitude, be a good listener, and establish a good rapport with your students.
Be sensitive to the special needs of all students and respect confidentiality.
Do not have physical contact with the students.
Be Responsible.
Remember your role!

8. Dress Appropriately Wear clothing that is school appropriate.
Crop tops, bare midriffs, low cut necklines, spaghetti straps, excessively short skirts or shorts, excessively slashed/cut/holey clothing, and sheer fabrics will not be permitted for either male or females.
Student dress should be in good taste. You are in a leadership position and kids will look to you as a role model.
Wear your A+ shirt or another FHC shirt if possible

9. Be Professional
Do not arrive at your tutoring site smelling of tobacco and/or smoke.
Use appropriate language.
Do not use your cell phone while tutoring.
Do not have physical contact with the children.
Follow the Francis Howell Central High School Code of Student Conduct.
Remember you represent Francis Howell Central High School. Make us proud of you!

10. If complaints are filed against a student the following will occur:
First offense.- Conference with student.
Second offense.- Conference with student and parent.
Third offense.- Removal from the A+ program.

11. Use A+ hours for only one program
Use A+ hours for only one program. (Do not use A+ hours as National Honor Society, community service hours, etc).
Remember to have fun!

12. Placement Options Elementary Vacation Stations Week-long assignments
Whole or half days (5/10 hours)
Summer school (session I or II)
Need to do 2 weeks to get 50 hours

13. Vacation Station Working with elementary age children
More flexible involvement options

14. FHC Summer School Help in classrooms for summer school
Will be working with peers or middle school students

15. A+ Tutoring forms are due Monday, April 11th!

16. If you are unable to use get the signup link to work, you can stop by Guidance and use our computers. Assignments are made on first-come, first served basis.

17. All A+ tutoring assignments must be coordinated through Mr. Bailey

18. Requesting a Placement
Keep your schedule consistent (Prefer scheduling in one week increments).
If you can’t do an entire week make an appointment to meet with Mr. Bailey and discuss your schedule.
Make sure to treat this like your job! Call in if you can’t make your scheduled time.
