-An appositive is a noun that renames another noun in a sentence
-An appositive can have other adjectives or prep phrases with it
-It comes right after the noun it describes

-Commas should go around the appositive if it provides unnecessary information

To add more information about a noun into a sentence in a short, easy way

To give the name of a person in addition to a detail about them
