3 What is the difference? Original
Focus is precision heeling combined with sits, downs and stands. Includes some distance work: jump, tunnel Working Focus on directed, distance work rather than precision heeling. Heeling proficiency is a fundamental requirement!

4 Who is eligible to compete in the Working levels?
You and your dog may compete in the Working events if: 1. The dog has earned an Advanced title in the Original stream. OR 2. The dog has passed the Working Proficiency Test.

5 Working Proficiency Test
Consists of 6 stations and 2 subdivisions Must obtain “READY” score in all 6 exercises Subdivision 1 (must pass these at a single event under one judge) WPT1 Walking Proficiency WPT2 Stays and Recalls Subdivision 2 (must pass these twice under one or more judges) WPT3 Figure Eight WPT4 Distance Exercises WPT5 Retrieve on Flat WPT6 Back Away

6 WPT1: Walking Proficiency
Principle features for the dog: To remain in close proximity to handler To change pace with handler To sit on command To perform a right and left turn and an about turn right. Both verbal and signal cues are allowed.

7 Sit and Down Stay and Recall
Principle features for the dog: To remain in a sit/stay while handler walks 10 ft away To remain in down/stay while handler walks 10 ft away To move with the handler to the next cone To stay in position until the handler calls the dog To sit in the front position when recalled, close enough to be touched

8 WPT3: Figure Eight Principle features for the dog:
To circle each cone correctly in the direction indicated To return to the handler close enough to be touched Principle features for the handler: To remain in the handler box

9 WPT4: Distance Signals Principle features for the dog:
To perform the exercises in the order specified (signals only; no verbal cues allowed) To remain in the box Principle feature for the handler: To remain in handler box or behind handler line Position Changes Sit to stand, spin left Sit to down, down to sit Sit to stand, spin right Sit to down, down to stand Sit to stand, stand to down

10 WPT: Retrieve on Flat May use an inactive toy or item. No noise. Shouldn’t roll easily. Principle features for the dog: To say in position until cued To retrieve object and sit in front To deliver object to handler Principle features for the handler: To remain in handler box or behind line To throw object at least 5 ft To wait until object has stopped moving before sending dog to get it

11 WPT6: Back Away Principle features for dog:
To back-up 5 ft into target area To back away from handler in brisk manner Principle features for handler: To remain in handler box or behind handler line
