Measuring and monitoring the benefits of a shared LMS
Project overview Graham Hay & Michael Lee 15 June 2016
2
Outline of the presentation
overarching aims methods, approach & timetable required engagement CE’s example work
3
Overarching objectives
key questions: what benefits have been achieved and can be anticipated going forwards as a result of the shared Library Management System? evidence framework key outputs conceptual framework some quantitative evidence on benefits to date recommended approaches for measuring benefits in future
4
Proposed approach methods
desk-based research data gathering data use workshop assessing the possibility of measuring benefits in quantitative terms testing the feasibility of implementing different techniques to measure different future benefits among institutions/as a consortium
5
Overview of approach In this task we will review and reflect on past work to identify the benefits of a shared LMS, and assess the range of available evidence on the benefits of shared LMS. Literature that we plan to analyse include: Internal 2012 report: WHELF Sharing a Library Management System – Research, Scoping, and Specification Study (pre-cursor to feasibility study) Business case developed from the feasibility study Road-map and timelines for implementation Individual institutions business cases This will help us to understand: the situation pre-shared LMS and how that was expected to change following the implementation of the shared LMS; which benefits had been identified and additional information around the realisation of these benefits (e.g. channels of realisation, potential metrics for measuring).
6
Engagement two workshops interviews July early September
following second workshop September to November establishing bilateral exchanges with key personnel within institutions
