4. Hope As An Anchor Of The Soul

It is a hope resting in heaven (Col. 1:5)
Not in this realm (Rom. 8:24-25)

An “inheritance - reserved in heaven for you” (1:4)
“Salvation ready to be revealed in the last time” (1:5)
“Praise, honor, and glory” (1:7)
The “end of your faith - the salvation of your souls” (1:9)

5. Prepared For Action Literally “Gird up the loins of your minds” {KVV}
Oriental practice. Gather up long, loose robes and tuck them into the belt
All impediments removed for action (cf. Ex. 12:11; Lk. 17:8)
Used as a metaphor
Many things must be put away; i. e., anxiety {worry}, fear, obsession with material things, etc.

6. Be Sober
Sober = “to be calm and collected in mind, to be temperate, dispassionate, circumspect”

We ought to be wise about:

Being “chummy” with the world
World is obsessed with sex
Unconcerned about alcohol and drugs
