2. There was one key event that affected every aspect life in the 1910s:
World War 1
Britain declared war on
Germany on August 4th 1914.

3. Women, the war and products..
During the war women had the opportunity to take on new roles.
This meant that fewer women were becoming domestic servants for the middle classes and consequently there was a rise in the production of domestic appliances such as cookers, electric irons and vacuum cleaners.
In 1918 women were allowed to vote for the first time.

6. 1910s Graphics
Graphic design was strongly influenced by the Arts & Crafts movement, Art Nouveau and De Stijl.

7. 1910s Fashion Skirts were very long. Hats and fur were popular.
Accessories influenced by styles such as Art Nouveau were popular.

8. 1910s Food
Packaging was very important for food storage. Most meals were prepared at home from basic ingredients.
