Inform about the future involvement of candidate countries in the Urban Audit

3. Urban Audit for CCs Grants to NSIs foreseen under PHARE project
10 countries
BG, CZ, EE, HU, LT, LV, PL, RO, SI, SK
Malta and Cyprus: separate solution
2 phases in different PHARE projects

4. When ? Launch of phase 1 in April 2003 (PHARE 2001)
Final report phase 1 in December 2003
Phase 2 starts August 2004 (PHARE 2003)
Final report phase 2 in March 2006

5. What ? Define spatial units at 3 levels (phase 1)
Go through variable list (phase 1)
Compile data available at NSI (phase 1)
Compile data from other sources (phase 2)
Estimate variables (phase 2)

6. How ? National statistical office gets grant
Appoint a NUAC (National Urban Audit Co-ordinator)
Work closely with Eurostat
Participate in meetings and workshops

7. How much financial support?
Depends on the number of cities
Phase 1 (PHARE 2001) has a maximum limit of EUR per country
Phase 2 (PHARE 2003) an upper limit will be set
NOTE: These PHARE projects are not yet approved!

8. Cyprus and Malta Welcome to participate Not covered by PHARE projects
