All of these forms would contain data that is
Consistent Accurate Reliable And only data which is relevant to the business All would have security access for different people eg receptionist at the doctors should not be able to see everything about you! Or Social Welfare front office person should not see the same information as your Case Officer
4
A form in a database is an object that is used to enter or display data.
5
Where is the Form Object?
The TABS organise all of the objects in the database Make Forms Design your active object
6
About a form A form is created based on the fields in a table or a query
7
The form can contain all of the fields in the table or some of the fields or extra fields
The form can also have labels added
8
Right – find the original form!!
Designing the form Right – find the original form!! When designing a form, you would look at the source data – or the form already in use
9
You would ask if the business wanted the form to have improvements eg graphics, labels or different layout Why? Because it needs to be user-friendly Because it will be used for all data entry
10
But, why did I need a form?? Once you had analysed the needs of the business, you would create the form
11
A form is a user-friendly version of the table
When you fill in a form, you create a record
12
When you enter a new record using the form, the data in the underlying table is also updated
13
Each record in the table is displayed on a separate form
14
Now I am ready to begin creating my form – back to the workbook!!
