2. What is a Fact and Opinion
A fact is something that can be proven.
It is something that is true
A opinion is what a person think
Something that has no proof
Examples: think, feel or believe

3. How to tell if a sentence is a fact
First read the sentence.
If you can find proof, then it is a FACT

4. Let’s take a look at the sentences below:
1. Dogs are animals.
2. The school bus is yellow.
3. There are 50 states in America.
4. I have brown hair.

5. Dogs ARE Animals
Dogs are animals because you can look it up in the dictionary or on the internet and find proof that this sentence is a true.
So therefore this sentence is a fact

6. Is this a Fact or Opinion
The bulletin board is so pretty.

7. The octopus has eight legs.
Fact or Opinion
The octopus has eight legs.

8. The desert is beautiful.
Fact or Opinion
The desert is beautiful.

9. Remember:
FACTS can be proven and are true. OPINIONS are what someone think or feel. They can’t be proven.
