2 What is a Fact and Opinion
A fact is something that can be proven. It is something that is true A opinion is what a person think Something that has no proof Examples: think, feel or believe

3 How to tell if a sentence is a fact
First read the sentence. If you can find proof, then it is a FACT

4 Let’s take a look at the sentences below:
1. Dogs are animals. 2. The school bus is yellow. 3. There are 50 states in America. 4. I have brown hair.

5 Dogs ARE Animals Dogs are animals because you can look it up in the dictionary or on the internet and find proof that this sentence is a true. So therefore this sentence is a fact

6 Is this a Fact or Opinion
The bulletin board is so pretty.

7 The octopus has eight legs.
Fact or Opinion The octopus has eight legs.

8 The desert is beautiful.
Fact or Opinion The desert is beautiful.

9 Remember: FACTS can be proven and are true. OPINIONS are what someone think or feel. They can’t be proven.
