2 Chuck Close Chuck Close was born on July 5, 1940, in Monroe, Washington. Suffering from severe dyslexia, Close did poorly in school but found solace in making art. After earning his MFA from Yale in 1964, Close took his place atop the American art world by creating large-scale, photorealist portraits that have creatively blurred the distinction between photography and painting.

4 jonathan burstein Born in Los Angeles, Jonathan Burstein received a BA from UC Berkeley and an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute. His work has been shown nationally and internationally, including recent exhibitions at Patricia Sweetow Gallery, the Year '06 art fair in London, and Scope Miami.

9 Benon Lutaaya Benon Lutaaya (born Dec-1985) is a Johannesburg-based, Ugandan-born artist. He holds a BFA with Education - Kyambogo University. He started his professional career in 2009 as a paper collage artist and only started to paint in 2011 on a residence program in South Africa. He is a full time artist based at the Bag Factory Artists’ Studios in Newtown – Johannesburg.

Choose a color scheme, a palette, that is harmonious. (look to the color wheel for examples) Use the space on the paper effectively. Use class time wisely. Show good Craftsmanship – Neat, clean & complete? Clean Up work area daily, when asked.
