‘Our ambition is that every child in Medway enjoys an outstanding education’
We will work towards this with the following key values: Integrity We deliver on our promises, doing what we say we are going to do. We are gracious and non-judgemental, reflecting on our mistakes, acting with respect and confidentiality. We are welcoming, approachable and hospitable. We work with our partners for the common good. Celebration We value equality and believe in the uniqueness and worth of each individual, providing holistic support and nurture for both staff and pupils. We look to work positively, capturing what’s good and building upon it. Shared Drive and Ambition We share a passion to make a lasting difference. We will go the extra mile to make a change for the better and to improve children’s lives. Opportunity We will provide new opportunities and encourage children and adults to try new things. We will learn from each other and work together to find solutions which last for the long term.

CPD Standard To ensure that every adult has access to great CPD, the MTSA strives for its professional development offer to meet the following standard (based upon the Standard for teachers’ professional development July 2016): Professional development has a clear focus on improving and evaluating pupil outcomes. Professional development is underpinned by robust evidence and expertise. Professional development enables opportunities for effective collaboration. Professional development will lead to sustained improvements over time. Any short-term impact on workload of engaging in the professional development will be outweighed by the long-term impact.

Progression in Reasoning
Discuss on your tables: What is the quality of the reasoning taking place in your school? How do you ensure there a variety of reasoning style questions posed? How do you scaffold reasoning, particularly for the lower attaining pupils? Do pupils use diagrams to explain reasoning? Is this promoted? Are there any fantastic reasoning resources you would recommend?

Quality Assurance After each session (or at the end of a series of sessions if more appropriate) all participants will be asked to complete an evaluation form which will assess whether the standard has been met (see questions below). The evaluations will be reviewed by the MTSA to confirm that the CPD standard has been met and continuously improve the CPD provided. The session content was appropriate for me The session allowed me to collaborate with others If given the opportunity, I will be able to share good practice from the session with others The session will lead to improved outcomes for the pupils I am responsible for The session will help to develop my immediate practice The session will help to develop my practice in the long term The session was underpinned by evidence and expertise Any short term impact on workload of attending the training will be outweighed by the long-term impact I would recommend the course to others Emphasise the bold question regarding workload. The MTSA is determined that its CPD offer is effective and that reducing teacher workload has a high profile.
