English 10 - 10/19/15 Write about your weekend. How do you fix a tuba?
Circumlocution – talking around a subject rather than getting to the point. Usually due to embarrassment. Goals – Complete lyric PowerPoint presentations. Debate gun control. Homework – Do a Wikipedia search for “prison labor camps in the south.” be prepared to talk about it tomorrow. Don’t forget to study Vocabulary 6 for quiz Friday. With a tuba glue.

English /20/15 I have gained this by philosophy: that I do without being commanded what others do only from fear of the law. Aristotle. Why did the toilet paper roll down the hill? Cledonism – using circumlocution to avoid using certain words that are believed to be unlucky; e.g. “twelve, twelve plus one, fourteen….” Goals – Complete lyric presentations. Discuss the opener. What is your philosophy? Cool Hand Luke. Homework – Write a brief paragraph about why you follow rules. Because it wanted to get to the bottom.

Chiastic – inverting words in otherwise similar phrases; e.g. “He went to the door, to the door went he.” Goals – Watch Cool Hand Luke and discuss issues related to Self Reliance.
