Japan (J) starts its conquest of China (C)
1931: conflicts in Manchuria begin between J and C. 1932: J installs a puppet govt in Manchuria 1937: July, the C and J have a battle and the J quickly overrun the poorly trained and supplied C army

1940: J takes over part of Indochina, present day Vietnam
1941: J takes the rest of Indochina, present day Cambodia, and Laos.
