Enfoque: Rituales latinos del Año Nuevo Watch the video, read and answer the questions in Spanish using complete sentences. 1. ¿Cuántas uvas (grapes) come la mujer? Hint: Las uvas representan los meses del año. 2. ¿Qué color es el calzón (underwear) que usa la mujer? 3. ¿La mujer lleva joyas de oro o plata para traer buena fortuna? 4. English response and share with a partner: Do you or your family have any traditions you do to kick off a new year? Describe!

Quickwrite: Reflection on Proficiency
Look over your results for the final exam. Refer to the whiteboard or the proficiency indicators taped to the back cabinet to reflect on what your current proficiency level. Consider and answer these questions: On average, what is your current proficiency level in Spanish? What is an appropriate level for the end of Spanish 2? If you are not at the level you should be at this point, what can you do to move along the proficiency pathway? If you are near or at the appropriate level, what are some things you have done to help you improve your Spanish usage and comprehension? Which is the domain you feel strongest in? Which is an area for growth? What is your proficiency goal for the end of Spanish 2? What are some resources you can use or things you can do to help you achieve this goal?

Organize and sort through binder!
Throw away any old homework assignments, Registros de Tareas, worksheets, Enfoques, corrected work, etc that you no longer need to refer to. Keep: Syllabus, Conjugation 101 Review (group presentation notes on how to conjugate regular present tense verbs), Stem Changing/Boot Verbs handout, Spanish 2 Coping Card, Log on instructions for pearsonrealize.com, and any notes you took in class last semester...new grammar concepts will build upon prior skills. Organize your binder: You should at least have a section for Enfoques, Tareas and Registros, Apuntes (Notes) and Hojas importantes (important handouts). New handout for conversation partners: Amigos de Sudamérica
