Satire Remember that The Adventure of Huckleberry Finn is a satire of slavery. This means that it is ridiculing slavery through mockery, parody, sarcasm, or through other satirical devices. Note! There are three types of devices we are concerned with: Literary, Rhetorical, and Satirical. When was the book published? When does the book take place? While writing after the reconstruction, but before the Jim Crow Era, why did Mark Twain choose to write during the time period of slavery? What does the notice literally mean? What is the satirical meaning of the notice?
