4 Who are Jobling Purser? Develop, manufacture and produce a vast range of bituminous products Family run business since 1830’s Two asphalt plants in the North of England

5 Identifying the need for change
Poor state of UK road network Cracking Deformation/Rutting Potholes Disruption to public, and road users Lack of cost effective, sustainable repair solutions Why are we constantly having this problem? Insufficient time available? Insufficient funding? Incorrect use of materials? Lack of time, for correct workmanship (splat, pat, dash)? Poor reinstatements? Can we do something about this?

6 Armaphalt Site mix hot asphalt what you want, where you want,
The solution!!! Armaphalt Site mix hot asphalt what you want, where you want, when you want.

7 What is Armaphalt? Jobling Purser started to develop and create the Armaphalt range in Armaphalt is a bagged site mix hot asphalt, that conforms to all relevant material specifications: EN 13108 PD 6691 SHW SROH Armaphalt is used in conjunction with a mobile low volume asphalt heaters

8 Benefits of using Armaphalt
Zero Waste No down time Increased productivity Flexibility Right first time

9 Benefits of using Armaphalt
Zero Asphalt Plant Charges Various materials Reduction in potential for failures Recycling Sustainability

10 Standard Reinstatement Process
Head back to yard (if different location to waste drop off) Leave sites early to dispose of any waste Travel to next site Clean up patch area Recover material so it doesn’t lose heat Reinstate patch from material on wagon Prepare area Travel to site Wait in asphalt plant traffic Travel to asphalt plant Load tools onto wagon

11 Time Cost Quality Rushed jobs to accommodate fast cooling materials
Increased potential for failures Poor quality materials being used due to temperature Incorrect material sometimes used due to unavailability of space Sometimes only temporary materials used Air void failures, ravelling, rutting Revisiting sites numerous times Morning trip to asphalt plant Delay in asphalt plant traffic Trip from asphalt plant to site Site work Leaving site early to dispose of waste Trip back to depot if different location to waste disposal Further time needed to revisit sites Extra diesel for going to collect from plant Material costs Extra diesel travelling to site Increased traffic management window Extra diesel disposing of waste Potential charge for waste disposal Cost associated to original price of material wasted Revisiting sites to repair failed temporary reinstatement If revisit is required, starts again from point 1 Asphalt plant opening charges

12 Outcomes of using conventional methods
Larger increase in negative outcomes High costs Longer time needed to be spent on site Delays/inconvenience/disruption for public High production of waste Heavy carbon footprint High risk of failed reinstatements Reoccurring problem areas Continuing poor road network

13 Process of using Armaphalt
Tidy area and head to the next repair Carry out repair Discharge material from plant into wheelbarrow, or direct to patch Check temperature of material Prepare area for reinstatement Load bagged Armaphalt material into mobile low volume asphalt heater Transport the materials, crew and tools direct to site Prepare your wagon at yard or depot

14 Time Cost Quality Diesel for days work
Correct temperature material used all day Correct specification material used for repairs No compaction/air void related failures Increased longevity of repairs Load wagon in yard and head to site Heat up the materials Carry out required site work Head back to yard at end of full shift No need to revisit completed sites Diesel for days work Material costs – only what’s used Standard traffic management requirements No visits back to same sites

15 Outcomes of using Armaphalt
Larger increase in positive outcomes Decrease in costs Decrease in time spent on site Decrease in delays/inconvenience/disruption for public ZERO production of waste Reduction of heating times Decrease in carbon footprint Right first time Increase in quality Increase in productivity/efficiency Increase in longevity of repairs Overall increase in sustainability
