Do Now 11/9/17 How do you feel you did on your test?
How did you prepare for the test? List the different types of cells we learned about in Unit 1. Which of these types do you think came first? Why? As humans, how many cells did we start out as? How many cells do you think are in the human body today? How do you think our body produces more cells? What are some organelles found within our cells?

Intro to Cell Growth & Reproduction (Evolution of the First Cell)
5
The Beginning of Cells As humans, we start out as one single fertilized egg cell. As adults, our bodies contain over 50 trillion different cells So, how exactly do we get from 1 cell to over 50 trillion????
6
Cell Growth Cells must grow before they can produce more cells.
Cells grow through a process called interphase.
7
Cell Division Once cells are large enough in size, they are able to divide and produce more cells. The process by which cells divide is called mitosis.
8
How the First Cells Came to Be
The first cells on Earth, were members of the domain Archaea. These were prokaryotic cells that lived in EXTREME environments deep on the oceans floor. From these cells came the trillions of cells on Earth today.

How Life Evolved Article
