A phrase is a group of words that acts like a single word in a sentence. A prepositional phrase acts like a modifier, a word that changes the sense of another word in a sentence. A Prepositional phrase includes a preposition, its object (the noun or pronoun that follows the preposition), and any modifiers. Prepositional phrases tell you where, when, how, why or to what extent.
