SUPPLIES NEEDED PENCILS OR PENS ONE SUBJECT NOTEBOOK FOR CLASSNOTES
A section in a binder for homework and handouts only. CALCULATOR- scientific version. We will use graphing calculators as a class later in the year.

PARENT PORTAL & SCHOOLWIRES
Please be sure to check the portal for hw grades as well as test and quiz scores. I usually put hw grades in once a week. Schoolwires will have the weekly hw assignments listed. Homework is due the next class.

GRADING POLICY 60% In class tests 20% take home quizzes
Use all available resources. 20% homework

HOMEWORK Agenda Books are filled out at the beginning of each week. (Also on schoolwires.) A score of 0-4 is given for each assignment. Scores are based on quality and quantity of work; not right or wrong.

HOMEWORK In general about minutes of math should be done each night. If a child is having difficulty or spending too long on a homework assignment, send me a note and we can work on it together after school.

TESTS AND QUIZZES Tests are posted on the homework board and are announced several days in advance. Take home quizzes should be done with all available resources, and are due the class after they are assigned.

CURRICULUM Our math class will be following the Common Core Learning Standards for New York State- Grade 8 math. Large emphasis on Algebraic concepts and graphing.

EXTRA HELP PERIOD Students can find me most days in room W166 from 2:45-3:15. I recommend that students who are confused on a topic stop by to have me go over the lesson with them during the extra help period.

8th Grade Assessment Exam
This exam is given to all 8th graders in the state of New York. This year the exam will be given on May 1st – 3rd

By searching for you tube videos of mathematical topics you will find great teaching resources for your kids.
