They are like the actual test Not multiple choice or fill-in- the-blank For what they do not know

3 Discuss the origins and evolution of the Southern, Northern, Middle, and Backcountry colonies.  Analyze region’s unique history, economy, political structure, geography, religion, and culture.  How are they similar/different?  (Chapters 2 & 3) What was the impact of English colonization on the Native Americans?  Describe some specific encounters between the colonists and natives.  What did each group learn/gain from the other?  Discuss the cultural, environmental, and economic differences between the two groups. (Chapter 1) What created the need for more labor in the colonies?  In what ways did the early colonists attempt to find sources of labor?  Describe the decision to use African slaves and the ordeal of their journey.  How white/black relations evolve in the 1600s and early 1700s?  How did the early institution of slavery change? (Chapter 4)   Describe the Enlightenment, Great Awakening, and the French and Indian War.  Discuss the ideas of the Great Awakening and the Enlightenment and the actions of the French and Indian War.  How did each influence the colonies and their decision to revolt against England?  In your opinion which had the greater impact on the colonies and why? (Chapter 4) Discuss the causes of the American Revolution.  What were the important events that led to the Revolution?  How/why did a free and affluent people decide to fight a war of independence against the most powerful nation on earth? (Chapter 5) Write a military history of the American Revolution.  What were the strengths and weaknesses of each side?  What battles were most important to the ultimate outcome of the war and why?  Specifically discuss the battles of Saratoga and Yorktown.  How did the colonists defeat the England? (Chapter 5) Briefly discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the Articles of Confederation.  What led to the Constitutional Convention?  What were the major debates at the convention and how were they resolved?  What were the major debates as to whether or not to ratify the Constitution and how were they resolved? (Chapter 7) Summarize and analyze the United States Constitution (not including the Bill of Rights).  Briefly summarize the House of Representatives, the Senate, and the Executive branch.  Does the Constitution protect any individual liberties?  Give examples.  Name at least three of the most important powers granted to Congress in Article 1 Section 8.  Give examples showing that the Constitution is both a democratic and moral document; give examples showing it is neither. (Chapter 7)
