Evaluation of Theory and Practical Experience
C&I Department Fall Workshop to evaluate current programs Field Experience Initiatives Committee presented definition of Practical Experience: “An assignment demonstrating practical application of relevant theory, active participation or reflective observation of students, teachers, faculty/staff members, and/or professionals or other constituents engaging in activities relevant to the candidate's program.” Specialization Area Teams reviewed Curriculum Crosswalks: Determined which assessments were practical experiences Set goals for practical experience assessments Established timelines and goals for course improvements

Data Gathered from Evaluation of Courses
Courses were evaluated to determine balance of theory and practical experiences. Review of workload to ensure appropriate rigor is planned; Dr. Raelye Self identified a resource developed by Rice University that helps estimate workload for academic activities:
