Utopia means “a perfect society”.
Dystopia is the opposite of Utopia A dystopia would be an imperfect society. Where have we seen an Utopian society before?

A Totalitarian government
controlling the people of a country in a very strict way with complete power that cannot be opposed Propaganda is used to control the citizens of society. ideas or statements that are often false or exaggerated and that are spread in order to help a cause, a political leader, a government, etc. Freedom of Information, independent thought, and freedom are not allowed. A person or idea is worshipped by the citizens of the society.

Citizens are divided by intellect, ability, or class.
The natural world is banished and distrusted. Citizens conform to uniform expectations and individuality is bad. The society is an illusion of a perfect utopian world. The citizens are under surveillance. close observation, especially of a suspected spy or criminal. Citizens have a fear of the outside world.

The hero often feels trapped and is struggling to escape.
questions the existing social and political systems. believes or feels that something is terribly wrong with the society in which he or she lives. helps the audience recognizes the negative aspects of the dystopian world through his or her perspective.
