Personification Giving human or animal characteristics to objects
Example: The roses welcomed me with their sweet fragrance. Roses = things, but here they are acting like a person by “welcoming”

Examples of Personification
The engine snarled and spit as the car disappeared down the road. Engine = thing, but here it is acting like a person or animal by “snarling” and “spitting” The aspen tree shivered in the cold dusk. Tree = thing, but here it is acting like a person by “shivering”
