2. Why Change? Laws of the Game are to Temporary Dismissal (TD) is to
Cover basic fundamentals
Make it safe
Make it fair and consistent
The game is for all players to enjoy
Temporary Dismissal (TD) is to
Punish the player not the team
Positively influence behavior with “Immediate punishment”
Force a calm down period

3. Temporary Dismissal Basics
System B from LOTG with a small modification
Dissent by a player on the field is no Longer a Yellow Card.
Dissent by a player is punished by a player being removed from the field of play for a temporary period

4. How does it work? Applies to all age group The TD period is
5 minutes for U16 and lower
10 minutes for others
Applies only to players, includes
Goalkeepers
Players temporarily off the field of play
Applies only for dissent

5. How does it work?
Referee signals by pointing with both arms to the TD area
The TD period
begins: at the re-start of play
ends: when player returns from the touchline with the referee’s permission (similar to an injury)
carries over (half time - extra time)
TD Player can only be substituted at the end of the TD period (at a stoppage in play)
TD area is the Technical Area (unless warming up – like a substitute)

6. How does it work?
A temporarily dismissed player who commits a caution or send- off offence during their temporary dismissal period will take no further part in the match and may not be replaced or substituted
A red card offence is still a red card (no return, no replacement)
Any two yellow cards is still a red card (with or without TD)
Any two TD means player no longer participates but can be replaced after TD period but only if the player has not had a yellow card
A Player who is not red carded but can not return may remain in the vicinity of the field of play = = + +
