Imaging and histological correlation in lung adenocarcinoma classification. a) Computed tomography (CT) scan demonstrating a solid attenuation nodule. b) A micropapillary pattern with small nests of tumours cells surrounded by retraction artefact was seen on the resection specimen. Scale bar=50 μm. c) Papillary pattern is shown with fibrovascular cores and an arborising architecture lined by neoplastic cells. Scale bar=100 μm. d) On the right side a solid tumour nest demonstrating solid pattern adenocarcinoma is seen. A typical feature of lung adenocarcinoma heterogeneity is shown by an adjacent focus on the left showing micropapillary pattern. Alain C.
