3 3.1.3 Performance Characteristics of an Analytical method
Accuracy, Precision, Sensitivity, Specificity, Selectivity, Robustness, Ruggedness, Linearity range, Limit of quantification, Limit of Detection, Signal to Noise ratio.

4 Performance Characteristics of an Analytical method
The criteria that are used to judge a technique and more often applied to applied to compare two different analytical method

5 Performance characteristics of analytical Method :
1 Accuracy: It is defined as closeness of the observed value with the true value. 2 Precision: It is the agreement between Individual observations of same set. 3 Limit of detection(LOD): Minimum amount of concentration of a component that can be detected with a given degree of confidence. 4 Limit of Quantification (LOQ): Minimum amount of concentration of a component that can be estimated with a given degree of confidence is termed as LOQ.

6 Precision and Accuracy
Measurements that are close to the “correct” value are accurate. Measurements which are close to each other are precise. Measurements can be accurate and precise; precise but inaccurate; neither accurate nor precise.

7 Performance characteristics of analytical Method :
5 Limit of Linearity (LOL) : It is defined as maximum concentration range up to which instrument is produces linear response. 6 Sensitivity: It is a measure of ability of method to discriminate between two small concentration differences in the analyte. 7 Measurement of Sensitivity: It is measured in terms of slope of the calibration curve. If the slope is greater sensitivity of the method is high and vise-versa.

8 Performance characteristics of analytical Method :
8 Selectivity: It is defined as degree to which the method is free from interferences from other components present in the matrix. OR An analytical method is selective if its signal is a function of only the amount of analyte present in the sample. In the presence of an interferent, 9 Dynamic range: It is the concentration range from limit of Quantification (LOQ) to Limit of Linearity (LOL).

9 Performance characteristics of analytical Method :
10 Selectivity: It is defined as degree to which the method is free from interferences from other components present in the matrix. 11 Dynamic range: It is the concentration range from limit of Quantification (LOQ) to Limit of Linearity (LOL).

10 Performance characteristics of analytical Method :
12 Robustness: When a method is relatively free from chemical interferences, it can be applied to the determination of analyte's in a wide variety of sample matrices. Such methods are considered robust. 13 Ruggedness:It is the degree of reproducibility of test results of an analytical methods obtained by the analysis of same sample under variety of conditions. 14 Signal to Noise ratio: The ratio of the signal’s intensity to the average intensity of the surrounding noise.
