3 Understanding the Core Learner Who God is What God is Doing
Foundational Understanding the Core Learner Who God is What God is Doing The Core Learner – what is the basic definition and Who God is… In regard to the learner. What God is Doing… how is God interacting based on who is and core learner is.

4 Core Learner Depraved Adam fell by rebelling against God Gen. 3
Man is depraved as heirs of Adam Rom. 5:12-19 Man lives in a sin cursed world James 4:4, 1 John 2:15-17, 5:19 Man’s standard is God Isaiah 64:5-7, Lev. 19:2, James 2:10 Sin makes us dead & God’s enemy Eph. 2:1-3, Col. 1:21 Core Learner Adam the first man – rebelled against God Man receives depravity as an heir of Adam. Sinful from birth. Psalm 51:5 Fallen world. Ephesians 2:1-3 following the ways of the world The Holiness of God is the mark of good and not good. It is impossible to measure ourselves against those who share our same status. Dead is dead. Enemy is Enemy.

5 As a Core Learner we start off as dead and sin-saturated
No amount of good stored up inside. No hope. No ability to better ourselves. Romans 6:23 the wages of sin is death. Dead on the road to eternally dead.

6 Who is God? Redeemer Sets the price Heb. 9:22, Rom. 6:23, Is. 53:6-7
Pays the Price – Jesus Peter 2:24, 1 John 4:10 Offers the price as a gift Cor. 5:21, Titus 3:4-7, Eph. 2:4-9 Redeemer not only pays the prices But as the supreme being he sets the price of His holiness as well. Hebrews 11:6 How can man come up with the price. We could die… price paid. Or God could pay the price through a substitutionary sacrifice. Hebrews 2:14-18 Then God just gives the payment away freely to those who by faith receive it.

7 God miraculously transforms the dead sin-saturated materials, through the redemption that came by Christ, into living, righteous, beings that can be shaped to glorify Him in mortal life. We cannot forget that this is the result of a miracle… Nothing man can do can conjure up enough goodness to result in righteousness equivalent to God. Mortal life. It is as much for today as for eternity.

8 What is God Doing Revealing Conflict Rom. 7:14-25, Gal. 5:17
Sanctification Revealing Conflict Rom. 7:14-25, Gal. 5:17 Resolving the Conflict I Thess. 5:23-24 Loving His Children Heb. 12:7-11, Rom. 8:26-27 Coordinating the process Peter 1:3-9, Rom. 8:28-30, Ps. 139:13-17 Sanctification process of becoming what we are. Sanctification is the art of getting used to our justification. Here’s how. Revealing conflict. Conflict between sinful nature and the Spirit. When conflict arises it allows us to see the sin that so easily entangles us. Loving His Children. By disciplining His children. Training like a marine corp. sergeant helping them to crucify the sinful nature. Gal. 5:24 Coordinating the process Not a haphazard random act but a specifically tailored plan to conform the redeemed into the image of Christ.

9 Sanctification is God lovingly, refining the redeemed into conformed images of His Son to reflect His glory. Nuff said. See it as an act of God’s love. What happens if we forget to view life this way? We need to believe this is true for us and for those we are called to minister too. Otherwise we’ll view the difficult moments as something being done to us instead of for us by God.

10 The Results To see that we are sinful people who are miraculously changed by God and now have the potential to be conformed to Christ.

11 The Results To see that God is refining the redeemed through His intimate involvement with every moment of our lives by orchestrating those moments according to His will.

12 The Results We can rejoice in every moment of our lives, because it is the evidence of God’s unmerited love in Christ for undeserving people James 1:1-11
