2. ASSINGMENT OBJECTIVES
Assess ability to exegete the passage
Assess ability to adapt the content of the exegesis in order to facilitate a bible study for children (8yrs – 12yrs)
Assess your ability to reflect theologically and contextually

3. ASSINGNMENT DESCRIPTION
There are two Sections to this Assignment:
Section A: Exegesis (1200 words: 30 marks)
Section B: Bible Study
* Method and design (500 – 1000 words: 25 marks)
* Lesson Plan (no word limit: 30marks)
* Self Reflection (500 – 800words: 15marks) and Reflection of the participants
All aspects must be submitted in order for this assignment to be considered complete.

4. SECTION A: EXEGESIS (1200words: 30marks)
Analysis of the text (behind the text, in the text, in front of the text)
Clear use and ownership of hermeneutical perspectives: How and the why
Integration of contextual needs and Methodist theological traditions
Please reference sources in the text and provide a detailed bibliography

5. SECTION B: (500 – 1000 words: 25) PART 1: METHOD & DESIGN
Method: Philosophical/Theological and Pedagogical frames are you using
Womanist or Post-colonial theological frames
Contextual Bible Study Methodology (see, judge, act)
Why are you using these frames? (Contextual Analysis and examining personal lenses)
Design: Big picture overview of the Bible study
Broad Objectives and Lay out

6. SECTION B: (no word limit: 30marks) PART TWO: Detailed Lesson Plan
Broad Objectives and Lesson Goals
Description of use of space
How are you facilitating Introductions and Groups rules or ethos?
Icebreakers (what is the purpose? Do they relate to material?)
How are you designing the “see”, “judge” and “act” aspects of the Bible Study
What is the content of your study (is there a worksheet or handout, etc)

7. SECTION B (500 – 800 words: 15 marks) PART THREE: REFFLECTIONS
Self Reflection:
- What excited you about this experience?
- What challenged you or made you feel unsure?
- What new skills have you learnt?
- Where was God in this moment? What have I learnt about my vocation?
